Description:
This fellowship is a collaboration between the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) and the Center of Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation (CESI). It offers hands-on experiences in projects that focus on community engagement, entrepreneurship, social innovation, and sustainability. Fellows will work with community organizations to improve the Winston-Salem and WSSU communities.
This fellowship pays a monthly stipend of $500.
Program Highlights:
- Interdisciplinary Focus: Combines community engagement, entrepreneurship, and sustainability.
- Mentorship: Guided by the program coordinator and the OUR director.
- Skill Development: Includes professional development workshops and training.
- Project-Based: Fellows will complete meaningful projects that benefit local communities.
Fellow Expectations:
- Duration: 1 semester
- Weekly Commitment: 10 hours (3 hours of “course time” + 7 hours of research)
- Meetings: Weekly meetings with the program coordinator (1-3 hours)
- Mid-Point Assessment: Progress evaluation and potential enrollment in entrepreneurial courses.
- Final Deliverables:
- Completed project due by May 15th, 2024
- Business or social innovation plan
- Final paper or creative work
- Presentation at WSSU Scholarship Day and a professional conference
Compensation:
- Monthly stipend of $500
