DPT Admissions
Thank you for your interest in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program offered by Winston-Salem State University. We are pleased that you are considering our program for your professional training! All instructions for submission and required application documentation, including prerequisite courses, can be found on the WSSU Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS) page. Deadlines
- PTCAS Application Portal Opening Date: June 15, 2025
- Priority Application Deadline: November 3, 2025
- Final Application Deadline: February 16, 2026
Seats are offered on a rolling admissions basis. Priority consideration for admission is given to applicants who have submitted their complete application by November 3, 2025.
A completed application means that:
- Application is fully verified through PTCAS
- Official GRE scores have been submitted in PTCAS (use code 7635)
- Required Supplemental fee ($50) has been submitted to the Office of Graduate Admissions
- WSSU Graduate Admissions will email verified applicants with instructions on how to submit this supplemental fee
We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible if you would like to be considered for the priority deadline to ensure that all of these requirements have been completed in time for the initial phase of application reviews.
A first round of offers will be extended to the top applicants who submit a complete and verified application by the priority deadline. Priority applicants will be notified by approximately December 15, 2025.
Applicants who apply by the priority deadline but are not selected for admission will be re-considered in subsequent rounds of applications reviews. All completed and verified applications received by February 16, 2026 will also be reviewed in these subsequent rounds, and final notifications will be sent out by approximately March 15, 2026.
*A seat fee is required once you have been accepted into the program.

WSSU Early Assurance Agreement
Earn your BS in Exercise Science from WSSU to get a leg up on the competition when you apply to the University's highly-competitive Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. WSSU's DPT program receives well over 800 applications for 30 seats in the program. The early assurance agreement is a significant advantage for WSSU undergraduates.

2025-2026 Open House Information Sessions
Information Sessions will be held monthly to provide prospective students the opportunity to: visit with current faculty/students, learn more about the program requirements and curriculum, and participate in an informal Q&A session regarding the WSSU Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.
From August 2025 - February 2026, the WSSU Department of Physical Therapy will offer one Information Session during the 2nd week of each month, alternating between In-Person and Virtual (Zoom) formats.
