Campus Safety
Dear Ram Family,
I can’t wait to see you back on campus for our 2025 Forever Red Homecoming. This special time of year reminds us just how strong, spirited, and connected our Ramily truly is. As we celebrate, I want everyone to have fun, make memories, and stay safe.
The safety of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests remains our top priority. Winston-Salem State University Police and Public Safety, together with local law enforcement, fire, and EMS teams, are working closely to make this Homecoming our safest yet. You’ll notice an increased presence of officers and security staff throughout the week.
Updated Policy: No Ram Card No EntryYou will see signs around campus that say No Ram Card No Entry. This policy will be strictly enforced.
Residence Halls: People without a Ram Card are not allowed to enter residence halls after 10:00 pm.

- Be prepared for a cashless experience. WSSU is now a cashless campus for purchases, including tickets and parking. Please remember to bring your debit or credit card.
- Stay aware. With all the excitement, it’s easy to lose focus. Please stay alert and aware of your surroundings.
- Look out for one another. Go out in groups, decide on meet-up spots, and check in with friends throughout the night.
- Watch your drink. Never leave drinks unattended; if you do, it’s safest to get a new one.
- Avoid ticket scalpers. Purchase tickets only through approved vendors or the WSSU Ticket Office.
- Lock it up. Secure your valuables and lock your residence hall rooms and vehicles.
- Keep your RAM Card private. Don’t share it with others to access campus buildings.
- Make a plan. Review the full Homecoming schedule.
- Don’t isolate yourself. Avoid being alone with anyone you don’t know or trust.
- Charge your phone. Make sure your phone is fully charged before heading out.
- Use trusted rides. Only use official rideshare services—never accept rides from strangers.
- Never drink and drive. Call a friend or use a rideshare service instead.
- Report anything suspicious. Save the WSSU Campus Police number (336-750-2911) in your phone.
