Faculty and Staff
Faculty
Career Development Services and all academic departments at Winston-Salem State University share a similar mission: to prepare our students for meaningful and productive careers beyond WSSU. Whether students are gearing up for graduate school or the workplace, they will benefit from the partnerships that are forged between Career Development Services and your department. Here are some concrete ideas on how we can work together for the mutual benefit of our students and academic departments.
How Career Services Can Assist Your Department and Students
Alumni Speakers
We help with identifying alumni speakers, panelists or corporate presenters.
Career Coaching
Our staff can help your students explore their choice of a major and identify appropriate jobs and internships.
Career Planning
Students can utilize Focus2 the Career Development Services Online Career Planning Assessment to develop a career action plan, identify their interests, skills, and values; and see how they relate to WSSU majors and jobs obtained by WSSU graduates with those majors. We recommend a follow-up career counseling session.
Class Presentations
"Don't Cancel Class!" Our professional staff can make 15-50 minute presentations in class on a variety of career-related topics, including job hunting, resume, writing, and interviewing. You may request a speaker by completing our convenient online reservation form.
Employer Contact
We can provide employer contacts that may lead to part-time jobs, co-op and internship opportunities, and service learning prospects for your students.
Graduate School
We assist students with their graduate school applications through our annual graduate admissions fair, graduate school seminars, GRE test prep seminars, and personal statement critiques.
Internships
Our staff can help students find internships, which can enrich their academic experience and coursework.
Online Jobs
Students can search for jobs through CAREERlink.
