Student Complaint Filing Process
WSSU is fully invested in hearing the voices of our students.
If you have a complaint about a professor, department, institutional policy(s), or people/department(s) not following established procedures, you may follow this process using the Written Complaint Portal to submit a formal complaint.
For violations of the Students’ Code of Conduct and behavioral issues, please use the Incident Reporting Form.
Reach out to and attempt to speak with the person or department with whom you have a concern.
Try to come to a resolution that is agreeable to involved parties.
If the first step doesn’t work, you can then submit a written complaint.
Written Student Complaint Portal
Students should use the written student complaint portal when they believe that a policy, procedure, or regulation established by the institution has not been properly followed or has been applied unfairly.
This portal is typically used to formally address concerns related to institutional practices, administrative decisions, or departmental actions.
Examples include:
- A professor or administrator not following the policies outlined in the syllabus or handbook.
- Appealing a final grade.
- A failure by a department to process financial aid, enrollment, or other services according to published guidelines.
- Concerns about inconsistent application of academic or institutional policies.
- Issues involving appeals for academic or non-academic decisions where established procedures were not followed.
The written complaint portal is designed for non-emergency, policy-related grievances that require a thorough investigation or review by appropriate administrative bodies.
Log in with your RamID credentials.
As a final step, you may elevate your complaint to the UNC System level. All WSSU-based steps must be exhausted before elevating the issue to the UNC System level.
*If it is an emergency, please call WSSU Campus Police at 336-750-2911 or 911.
