What is Scholarship Universe?
Scholarship Universe is a single source for Winston-Salem State University and external scholarships.
How does Scholarship Universe work?
Scholarship Universe matches students with various scholarship opportunities and alerts them whenever they match to new scholarship opportunities. Students login through the secure portal to check their application statuses, look for scholarship opportunities and more. Students log in using their WSSU Rams credentials (Ram ID and Password), then accept the privacy agreement, and answer questions that build their profile.
How often do I have to fill out the application?
Students will apply for scholarships every year. Scholarship Universe continuously searches for matches based on your student profile in Banner and you will receive alerts via email, but you must update your profile yearly when the application reopens.
Can I verify my application was submitted?
Yes, application status can be viewed through the student portal within Scholarship Universe. Click the Applications icon on the left side of the page to see if applications are Ready to Start, In Progress or Submitted. Select the Submitted tab to see which applications have been submitted for that awarding year.
Can I be awarded more than one scholarship? Is there a maximum amount I can receive?
Yes, you can receive more than one scholarship. However, applying for scholarships in SU does not guarantee that you will receive a scholarship. Award amounts can vary and can typically be combined with other merit scholarships and financial aid awards.
Is there a maximum amount I can receive?
Yes, a student may not receive aid that exceeds their Cost of Attendance (COA), which is the maximum amount of aid a student can receive each academic year.
Can I start my application now and finish it later?
Yes, if you do not submit the application, you can save it and finish it later. To finish later, you can find your "In Progress" applications in the Applications tab.
