Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy - Winston-Salem State University

Doctorate (tDPT)

The transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy (tDPT) is designed for professionals who have graduated with a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree in physical therapy and are practicing in the field. WSSU's tDPT prepares professionals to succeed as autonomous practitioners in an evolving global health care environment. Earning the tDPT degree will allow you to remain in-step with advances in clinical care and evidence based-practice.

The tDPT curriculum is comprised of 24 credit hours completed in 4 consecutive semesters. Applicants have up to three years to complete the tDPT. Applicants with Master's degree may be credited up to 6 credit hours.

Accreditation

The Department of Physical Therapy in the School of Health Sciences offers the Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree plan which is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Winston-Salem State University DPT graduates meet all education requirements for licensure through the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) in all states and territories.
