Non-Degree Seeking Students

Students from other colleges or universities may apply to take course at WSSU as a visiting student.

Applicants from other colleges or universities must obtain prior approval from their current institution to take courses at Winston-Salem State University.

Application Requirements: Visiting Students

• Complete and submit WSSU Application for Admissions through the Rams Admission portal
• Pay the application fee
• Submit official document of courses approved by your current institution

Students who want to take courses as part of a WSSU-sponsored program, broaden their educational experiences, or graduates of four-year institutions seeking certification will apply as a special student.

Special students who plan to take a course with pre-requisites must provide transcripts showing successful completion of the pre-requisites.

• Complete and submit WSSU Application for Admissions through the Rams Admission portal
• Pay the application fee
• If required, submit transcripts showing successful completion of pre-requisites

High school juniors and senior may be admitted as a special students to take courses.  Enrollment is limited to one course per semester. 

High school students must provide permissions from their high school counselor and their parent/guardian. 

Application Requirements: High School Students

• Complete and submit WSSU Application for Admissions through the Rams Admission portal
• Pay the application fee.
• Submit permission from your high school counselor to enroll as a special student at WSSU
• Submit permission from your parent/guardian to enroll as a special student at WSSU
