ETA Chapter of Epsilon Tau Sigma Honor Society

The purpose of the Epsilon Tau Sigma Honor Society is to promote high standards of scholarship, academic achievement, and professionalism among allied health students at Traditionally and Historically Black Colleges and Universities; to foster service to the masses of people in our communities and abroad, through the application of our chosen health professions, who are ill, underprivileged, ill-housed and impoverished; and to strive always to live lives which exemplify and fulfill the tenants of the Legacy of Mary McLeod Bethune.

Eligibility for Membership

Baccalaureate and Graduate Degree Candidates enrolled in an allied health program who have completed at least two consecutive semesters and earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher.

Membership requires a one-time payment of $35, which can be paid online here, and the submission of the Online ETS Application. When completing the application, students will be prompted to upload an unofficial transcript verifying eligibility requirements and proof of membership payment.

Active membership is held by those registered at the University who maintain at least a 3.0 each semester after induction into the society.

Alpha Chi Omicron Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota International Honor Society

Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International is the international honor society of professional counseling and professional counselors. Chi Sigma Iota was established to recognize and promote excellence in the profession of counseling as defined by our national accreditation standards (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs). Students invited to be a members of Chi Sigma Iota have distinguished themselves as outstanding counseling student whose accomplishments are consistent with the mission of the international organization and the Winston-Salem State University Chapter of Alpha Chi Omicron.

Eligibility for Membership

Membership eligibility is extended only to those students in the CACREP-accredited Rehabilitation Counseling Program at WSSU who "have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better on a scale of 4.0 and are deemed promising for endorsement as a professional counselor whose ethical judgment and behavior will be exemplary.

To be approved for membership within Chi Sigma Iota, you must be invited by a local CSI chapter and approved by the Chapter Faculty Advisor (CFA).

Rho Lambda Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing

The purpose of Sigma Theta Tau International (Sigma), National Honor Society of Nursing, is to recognize superior achievement, the development of leadership qualities, foster high professional standards, encourage creative work, and strengthen commitment to the ideas and purpose of the profession.

Eligibility for Membership

Undergraduates:

  • Are enrolled in a bachelor’s nursing program or equivalent
  • Achieve academic excellence based on set criteria*
  • Are ranked in the highest 35 percent of their nursing class
  • Have completed one-half of the nursing curriculum
  • RN to BSN students must have completed 12 credit hours

Graduate Students:

  • Have completed one-fourth of the nursing curriculum
  • Achieve academic excellence based on set criteria*
  • Meet the expectation of academic integrity

 

Students in graduate programs who are registered nurses, are legally recognized to practice in their country, and have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent in any field, shall be eligible to be considered as a Nurse Leader at any point in the program.

*Based on a 4.0 GPA scale, undergraduates need a minimum of 3.0 GPA, and graduates need a minimum of 3.5 GPA. View full listing of achievement standards online at www.sigmanursing.org/docs/standards.
