SharePoint Online
All current SharePoint Team Sites have been migrated from SharePoint 2013 (SP2013) to the University's centralized SharePoint Online infrastructure managed by Application Administration Services (AAS) in the Department of Information Technology (IT).
Benefits to Upgrading
The University thrives on collaboration, whether through formal project teams, informal working groups, special interest groups, departmental management teams, etc. Team Sites have already been rolled out in phases for project teams and departmental committees on a browser-based application called SharePoint. A Team Site is a collaboration tool where groups of people share information and work together, for example:
- Coordinate projects, calendars, and schedules
- Manage and collaborate on documents from start to finish, including versioning and check-in/check-out
- Discuss ideas and review documents or proposals
- Team/committee collaboration
- Manage a project by assigning tasks & keeping meeting minutes
- Generate alerts for tasks or deadlines (immediate, daily, weekly)
Access SharePoint Online Team Sites
Designated users may log into SharePoint Team Sites and browse the homepage to see if their departments or areas has an activated Team Site. Each Team Site is deployed and managed independently by "Team Site Owners" at the department, office or committee level, who will then designate appropriate user permissions in their area for faculty, staff, and students. Typically, the Site Owner will provide you with a link to the site when you are granted access. You must request access to specific sites from the department, office or committee’s Site Owner. For a directory of active Team Sites, please select a link below:
To access a Team Site, either access the site(s) directly by typing the site address into the address bar of your web browser. You may access sites using your WSSUMITS email and password credentials. Internet Explorer is the recommended browser. You may use Firefox, Safari or Chrome, but might have limited functionality.
