Gingles named chief marketing officer

Haley Gingles has been appointed chief marketing officer (CMO) at Winston-Salem State University.

Gingles served as the director of communications and media relations at WSSU for the past year-and-a-half, leading the university’s crisis communication efforts through the pandemic.

With the elevation to CMO, Gingles becomes a member of the university’s executive cabinet.

As the chief marketing officer (CMO), Gingles will be responsible for the strategic management of the university’s overall public relations, internal communications, and reputation management activities. She will lead and develop the university’s external and internal communications, news media relations, social media, and brand vision.

The CMO also provides strategic and proactive recommendations on policy and action steps in the management of opportunities, issues, and crises affecting the university’s reputation and public image.

In 2005 she began a career in municipal government with the city of Winston-Salem, working in marketing for the recreation and parks department.

Gingles then transitioned to the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce where she was director of marketing and communications. After six years with the chamber of commerce, she became communications and government affairs director for The FMRT Group working to educate public safety organizations about mental health services.
