Statement: Lockdown lifted on campus
Winston-Salem State University’s campus was placed on lockdown for about an hour early Saturday morning while university police and Winston-Salem Police responded to a call of a fight in Brown Residence Hall.
The lockdown was issued at 2:45 a.m. as a precaution because a suspect was reported to have a gun. After an investigation, police determined that the suspect, who was not a WSSU student, had fled campus. City and university police conducted a thorough search of Brown Hall, and no weapons were found.
No serious injuries were reported.
An all clear was issued at 3:49 a.m.
