WSSU, FTCC bring Disney Institute to Winston-Salem
Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) and Forsyth Technical Community College (FTCC) partnered to bring the Disney Institute’s renowned professional development quality service course to Winston-Salem.
At the two-day event, nearly 400 professionals learned, through time-tested examples from Disney’s parks and resorts, how excellent customer service is achievable for every organization.
“Our two great institutions are coming together to create a culture of excellence in customer service,” said WSSU Chancellor Elwood L. Robinson. “Our hope is that the quality service program will be the first of many professional development opportunities afforded to WSSU employees in an effort to provide the best possible experiences for our students.”
Among those who attended the training, held at WSSU and Forsyth Tech Oct. 9-10, were 185 faculty, staff and administrators from WSSU, and senior administration, faculty and staff from FTCC. Joining the institutions were employees from: the City of Winston-Salem, Dewey’s Bakery, Pepsi Bottling Ventures, Wake Forest Baptist, Financial Pathways, Goodwill, YMCA, the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce, Inmar and Quality Oil.
The collaboration, between WSSU’s Office of Continuing Education and the Office of Economic and Workforce Development at FTCC, took nearly 18-months of planning and is by far the two Winston-Salem-based institutions’ biggest professional development training event.
WSSU’s Office of Continuing Education offers noncredit personal and professional development courses to address the needs of working professionals. For more information, please visit Continuing Education’s website.
