Biography
Dr. Doron received his Masters and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006 and 2011, respectively. In 2002, he completed his Bachelors degree at the University of Washington in Seattle. Before joining WSSU, Dr. Doron taught at several colleges and universities in Texas, after a long career in the computer industry.

Research and Project Interests
- Dr. Doron's main research interests are the history of war and conflict in Africa, where he looks at how the political and diplomatic history of conflict has helped to shape the formation of identity and state-society relations. He is the author (with Toyin Falola) of a biography of Ken Saro-Wiwa, which was awarded a CHOICE Reviews Outstanding Academic Text for 2017. He has published in the Journal of Genocide Studies, African Economic History, and is founding managing editor of the Journal of African Military History. He has also published several book chapters and widely discusses state-military relations in Africa.
- He is currently writing a history of the Nigerian Civil War, and his next project discusses the use of magic in African militaries in the 18th and 19th centuries.
- Future projects include work on China's assistance to African liberation movements, and a biography of King Jaja of Opobo.
