Digital Storytelling in the Growing AI World
The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been prevalent for some time now, but only recently has the discussion around it become more serious. During the fall semester, I aimed to use the AI technology that Adobe released. Through Adobe Firefly and later Adobe Express, users can engage with text-to-image, generative fill, text effect, and generative color. I introduced AI images to my students first through lectures.
Digital storytelling relies heavily on the prompt as much as the image. Each new innovation builds on the previous one, and incorporating AI into media requires the user to ask the right questions. Therefore, students must have a good grasp of the subject matter to effectively utilize AI resources and get the most out of them.
Using the framework of Digital Storytelling, I reimaged many of the projects in my course with AI elements. These changes took the shape of though text to image and text effects while equally being integrated with other presentation styles.
WHAT IS AI
AI, as a tool, opens new possibilities to create both inside and outside the classroom. Through digital storytelling, AI offers us the ability to immerse our audience more intimately into our stories. The Adobe AI tools are approachable and easily integrated into both educational and academic work.
