The Faculty of Arts and Humanities is at the core of the liberal arts experience at WSSU. The Humanities research at WSSU seeks to explore the depths of the human condition in art, culture, language, literature, and the world of ideas. There is research across the five departments that consist of the Humanities programs of WSSU include humanists and researchers in Art + Visual Studies, English, Liberal Studies, Music and World Languages and Culture. Two Centers are dedicated to the Humanities, the renowned Diggs Gallery, one of the nation’s premiere art galleries for African and African diasporic art, and the Center for Design Innovation, a transdisciplinary center with sciences and humanities. The WSSU Humanities research portfolio contributes to the creative and dynamic intellectual community that generates fresh understandings of the complexity of the human experience.
