WSSU senior selected for inaugural Allstate Foundation National Youth Service Summit

Alexandria Brown, a senior at Winston-Salem State University, has been selected to attend the prestigious inaugural Allstate Foundation National Youth Service Summit in Chicago September 27-29.

This achievement is significant as Brown was selected from a highly-competitive pool of nearly 500 applicants across the nation. These applicants represent the very best young leaders in the United States, including non-profit founders, policy advocates, civic leaders and community activists who are at the forefront of driving positive change in their communities, said an Allstate press release.

The rigorous selection process was designed to identify those who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication and impact in their service work. Being one of only 75 students chosen for this honor is a testament to Alexandria’s remarkable contributions and potential to continue making a meaningful difference.

The Allstate Foundation National Youth Service Summit is a cornerstone of The Allstate Foundation’s commitment to empowering youth to serve and improve communities. Through a partnership with the Center for Expanding Leadership and Opportunity (CELO), this summit will bring together youth changemakers aged 18-22 for a weekend of learning, networking and collaboration. Attendees will leave this experience more connected, committed, confident, and empowered to continue and enhance their service work within their communities.

Brown, originally from Washington, D.C., is a resident of Charlotte, majoring in education with a focus on secondary English education. Upon graduating in the spring, Brown aspires to teach and inspire the next generation of students. She is deeply committed to fostering inclusive and engaging learning environments, drawing on the innovative teaching methods she has acquired throughout her academic journey.

Brown is passionate about promoting literacy, critical thinking and creativity in the classroom. She looks forward to motivating her future students to achieve their full potential and to becoming an advocate for educational equity in underserved communities.‌
