McClinton Named Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration
Ms. Lisa McClinton has been named the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, effective April 1. “I am extremely excited to welcome Lisa to lead at her alma mater, “stated Chancellor Elwood Robinson. “She is an amazing financial leader, and I am confident that she will be the kind of strategic thought partner that Winston-Salem State University needs as we execute our most ambitious strategic plan.” Ms. McClinton comes with over 20 years of higher education and state government experience, most recently at Elizabeth City State University, where she currently serves as Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance. In this role, she provides management oversight responsibility for the university’s $80 million operating budget, financial accounting operations, reporting, and policy functions, and is the principal accounting and financial policy advisor to senior administration.
As the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration at Winston-Salem State University, this position serves as the institution’s Chief Financial and Business Officer and is responsible for providing the overall leadership and strategic direction to the University’s budget, purchasing, grants and contracts, financial planning, accounting, business services, parking, and facilities operations. She will be a key member of the senior leadership of the University, and as such, will assume a leadership role on issues and activities that cross organizational lines and support the mission of the university. She will guide the development processes of the institutional budgets, operating and capital, the capital construction plan, and the University campus master plan.
Prior to ECSU, she served as associate vice chancellor for finance at University North Carolina School of the Arts. Lisa previous professional experience also includes assistant state auditor for the NC Office of State Auditors for over eight years and her primary focus was auditing universities, community college and other state agencies. She is a certified public accountant licensed in North Carolina and certified government financial manager.
Ms. McClinton received a Bachelor of Science in accounting and management information systems from Winston-Salem State University and a master’s degree in accounting and financial management from the Keller Graduate School of Management.
