WSSU begins work on Strategic Plan

Winston-Salem State University’s Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) kicked off their planning process on Feb. 26. Their goal is to develop a realistic and measurable Strategic Plan 2021-2026 that is in place by September 2021. The university is working with an external consultant to ensure that it has a transparent, data-driven and broad-based process that is inclusive of all stakeholders. The SPC, which is comprised of 163 people and 11 subcommittees, will provide regular updates to the WSSU community.

The SPC is currently in the discovery phase which will continue throughout March. The SPC will then focus on building the plan from March to June, refining the plan from June to August and launching the plan in Sept. 2021.

"Many people view the strategic planning process as creating a list of strategies, goals and objectives, said WSSU Provost Anthony Graham. "The SPC’s process is much more significant and meaningful. It is framed using five purpose-driven questions that delve deeply into how WSSU should position itself for state and national leadership while concurrently distinguishing itself as a model, next-generation historically Black college and university."

WSSU launched a Strategic Planning website,  which includes details about the SPC’s guiding principles, purpose-driven questions, committee structure and timeline.
