Letter from Chancellor Robinson - Happy Holidays!

Dear Ram Family,

The holiday season often brings out the best parts of humanity. People are cheerful and passing along well wishes to friends and strangers alike. It is during this time that we intentionally connect with those we hold dear and give without the expectation of receiving. This is also the time of year that we collect new memories and reflect on holiday moments that have made our lives special.

This holiday season is particularly unique. The unprecedented circumstances of 2020 have brought with it many uncertainties. The Ram family had to adjust quickly to remote learning and working environments and create ways to stay together at a distance. Many of our beloved traditions were modified or rescheduled to accommodate this public health crisis. Yet, as I reflect on the year, one thing that is certain, the WSSU community is comprised of strong, resilient people who support each other without abandonment. I am moved by the tenacity of our faculty and staff; the optimism of our students; and the continued generosity and support of our alumni and friends. I am prouder than ever to serve as Chancellor at an institution of this magnitude.

Even in the face of pandemic, our mission to provide a quality education to our students never faltered. This year, we received extraordinary contributions that will help fund our students’ dreams and change the trajectory of their lives. Our impressive research portfolio will continue to build the framework for innovation throughout the campus and further increase the acumen of our faculty and give them national exposure.

As we prepare to celebrate the holiday season and bring in a new year, I am excited about the future and what it will be for Winston-Salem State University. We now know that we are even stronger than we ever thought we could be. Together we are able to overcome any obstacle and arise to any challenge.

Be safe and enjoy the holiday break. I look forward to seeing you in the new year.

Happy Holidays,

Elwood L. Robinson, Ph.D.
