WSSU rolls out new campus safety app

Rave Guardian is Winston-Salem State University’s official campus safety app for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The app has many useful functions that will notify users of campus emergencies as well as anonymously report suspicious activity.

The Rave Guardian app can be downloaded for free from your Apple or Android device. Its many features allow users to perform the following:

  • Receive RamALERT Emergency Communications Emergency notifications will come through loud and clear, even if you don’t have a cell signal
  • Virtual Escort and Timer This feature will make sure that you never walk alone. Friends can track your progress to a specified location.
  • Emergency Call Button you can connect directly with WSSU Campus Police with the touch of a button
  • Report tips to WSSU Police & Public Safety Rave Guardian uses a two-way texting system that allows tips to be sent fully anonymously. You can discreetly include photos, videos, and locations

“The safety of our campus community is our first priority,” said Chief Amir Henry, “Time is our most valuable resource in emergency situations. We chose this product because it was one of the most efficient tools for us to notify or campus and to receive information about potential threats.”

WSSU Foundation acquires property for future growth, expansion of land area

The Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) Foundation is pleased to announce the acquisition of 42 acres of property, marking a significant step in advancing the university’s commitment to fostering student success and enabling future growth. The property, purchased for $7.5 million, is located at 2900 Reynolds Park Road, Winston-Salem.
