WSSU 'We Be Ramming' team scores big in state health challenge
Winston-Salem State University’s 10-member “We Be Ramming” team ranked 38th out of 140 teams that participated in the eight-week North Carolina State Miles for Wellness Health Challenge.
The We Be Ramming team took more than 6.7 million steps for a total of more than 3,350 miles during the challenge that ran from Oct. 3 through Nov. 21, 2016.
WSSU was the only HBCU to participate in the NC State Health Challenge, and gained Super Hare Status, which was the second highest category designation for a group that size.
The We Be Ramming team members include: Mary Wymbs, Kimberly Miller, Ellen Campbell, Dr. Antionette Moore, Keauna Ford, and Raisha Cobb, Danny Sealey, Kendrith Davis, and Corlis Sellers-Drummond.
All the participating teams reported more than 2 billion steps for more than a 1 million miles. That is twice to the moon and back and more than 41 trips around the Earth. More than 5,000 state employees participated in the challenge.
The next challenge is March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, and will run through May 11.
