The Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff (VC/COS) has administrative oversight of Public Safety, Community and Government Relations, oversees the operations of the Office of the Chancellor, including supervision of staff, management of the office budget, and serves as the principal aide to the Chancellor performing special assignments. The VC/COS serves as the liaison between the university and General Administration, and acts the Chancellor’s representative and ambassador to internal and external constituents as directed by the Chancellor.

Police & Public Safety

The Winston-Salem State University Police & Public Safety supports the University’s mission of liberal education for holistic student development by fostering a safe, secure, and service-oriented environment for all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors.

Government - Community Relations

The Office of Government and Community Relations serves as the university’s primary liaison with community organizations as well as federal, state and local government officials and entities. 

Emergency Management

The WSSU Office of Emergency Management (OEM) works collaboratively to plan and prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies effecting our campus community. OEM aims to provide a disaster-resilient University through an all-hazards Emergency Management Program by working in partnership with local, UNC System, state, federal, and private entities.

Environmental Health & Safety

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) supports WSSU in striving for a safe learning, living, and working environment for our campus. EHS does this by promoting safety, health, and environmental protection through the development of comprehensive programs for training, consultation, risk evaluation and mitigation, hazardous materials management, and regulatory compliance.

University Events

The purpose of the Office of University Events is to manage, coordinate, and facilitate annual plans for both signature and marque events in the life of Winston-Salem State University. The primary function of the office is to support events that include university-constituent relations on behalf of the Chancellor, as well as senior administration.
