Emergency Management Plans
The WSSU Office of Emergency Management maintains several emergency management related plans to ensure the university can continue to fulfill its mission in the event of a disaster. Below are the major plans that guide the Emergency Management Program at WSSU.
Emergency Operations Plan (EOP)
The Office of Emergency Management maintains and oversees an All-hazards Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) for the University. The plan directs the University’s response to emergencies and disasters by providing guidance, assistance, and relief as necessary to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from the effects of a major emergency or disaster.
Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP)
Each campus department/division that is determined by the university to provide essential functions shall maintain a Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP). This plan reflects sufficient forethought and detail to ensure timely restoration of essential functions following an incident. As of 2022, OEM has renovated the planning process to establish Continuity of Operations for significant campus departments.

Recovery Plan
A university-wide recovery plan addresses how the University will recover from a major emergency or disaster. The plan establishes both short- and long-term priorities goals and objectives.
Building Emergency Action Plans
A building emergency action plan (BEAP) is a plan to address life safety concerns during an emergency for specific buildings. Essential component of the building emergency action plan is to include instructions for following basic emergency procedures.
