Update for Threat of Violence: February 16, 2022 | 5:15PM
The following update is being provided regarding today’s bomb threat. At approximately 11:30 a.m. today a bomb threat came in to the WSSU main phone number. The threat was immediately assessed by campus police and law enforcement partners and determined to be unsubstantiated and therefore not a risk for campus warranting any campus building evacuations.
Out of an abundance of caution, WSSU Campus Police and Office of Emergency Management enlisted the assistance of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the Winston-Salem Fire Department, and the Winston-Salem Police Department, and the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Office of Emergency Management. All agencies worked in conjunction to coordinate and conduct a full-campus building-by-building search out of an abundance of caution. Nothing has been found and an official all-clear has been issued.
WSSU is very appreciative of all the additional support from our local law enforcement agencies. In particular, we want to thank our building coordinators that assisted law enforcement officers. Your assistance allowed law enforcement to direct their resources appropriately and provided building familiarity.
Given the all-clear, we will proceed with tonight’s basketball game.
Again, we want to remind everyone to make sure you have opted into the campus emergency notification system, RamAlert and downloaded the Rave Guardian app for emergency alerts. Also, please make sure your contact information is up to date in Banner.
